Maybe not of any help, but I had a loss of power of my windlass a couple of years ago. It turned out to be a broken connection on my alternator which caused insufficient charging of the batteries. After I soldered the connection all worked fine again. This was after I disassembled the entire windlass, motor, brushes and connections.
