Kent: are you sure about the $600 all in? Or was it $600 for the carpet alone + work?
Cheers, Veit

Hi, Veit. The per square foot cost of the Honey Beige berber carpet by Shaw is between $8.50 and $9.50 on all the sites I looked at. Can't remember now which one I used. The cost of the carpet itself is negligible compared to the cutting and edging (I did not use Sunbrella edging since this carpet is inside the boat.) labor costs. The company who made mine is a local carpet business in Hickory, NC who doesn't do "marine" work, but does do custom rugs. Unfortunately they no longer have the patterns (old carpets from my boat), so they can't make you a set and send it out to you. I suggest you find a similar carpet dealer and get a quote from them. Hello Kent: could you please advise where you actually purchased your carpet - any experience to date? We are trying to replace ours as well, local quotes are well above the $600 you advised. thanks, Veit ATMAN SM215

I took the old carpet in to use as patterns. Google "honey beige marine carpet" and you will find the one I chose. There are several other Berbers and a few solids similar to the original Amel carpeting, all made by Shaw. These are made as "snap in" carpet, as opposed to marine carpet made for gluing down to the decking. Kent SM 243 Kristy

Happy New Year Kent! Are you going to cut the carpet yourself or is did you supply the old carpet as a pattern? Do you have the product details? Terry

I have just ordered new carpeting for Kristy. It is meant for marine environment, and has a special backing that is not supposed to deteriorate. It is made by Shaw Carpets. I have not put it in the boat yet, so will report after a year or so on its longevity. The total cost will be less than $600 US.
Wishing you all a happy new year. Kent SV Kristy SM243 Currently Brunswick Georgia.

We are looking to replace either the backing our the entire set of carpets in Libby. The foam backing has deteriorated and is crumbling and peeling off the carpet. Has anyone replaced the backing or the entire carpets? If so where were the carpets purchased from or how was the foam backing replaced?
