Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Battery Charger

I have just replaced my charger on my SM by a Mastervolt 24/50. Mastervolt
seems to be among of the best products as far as I heard.
The maritime electrical specialist in Italy told me, that normally he is
installing a charger of about 10% of the installed battery capacity.
So I have 400amps, e.g. 50amps charger should be ok in my case. I made good
experience so far with this new Mastervolt (the 24/50 is costing about
1700$. If you buy 2, the cost will definitely be higher that for 1.
By the way, I have not yet installed the new cable for the temperature
sensor. The old cable has different conectors and the way through the boat
to the batteries is seemingly sealed waterproof. I do not want to make a
hole just for the purpose of this sensor. I would be interested to know how
you will solve that minor problem.

I need to replace the original battery chargeron Minaxi SM 6, one of
the 1st. It only had one 30amp charger, the newer boats I believe
have two. Can anyone advise me if two really are better than one and
is there an American make obtainable here in the USA or should I go
back to Amel and have 1 or 2 shipped over?
to Vito wherever you are.
