Just my opinion---I believe Amel installed lead acid batteries ( group 31 on my boat) because they are standard truck batteries. They are available worldwide.
If you happen to have a problem with an agm battery in some far off place it would be very difficult to replace. I would stick with the lead acid batteries.
In any event , I believe some of the dolphin chargers have a knob that will allow charging AGM batteries.

anyone installed AGM batteries in the SM? Are they compatible with existing
charger? (maintenance free lead acid batteries were used so far) Can anyone
recommend a brand? Size matters as we all know, it needs to fit under the bunk!
