Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Seeking Volvo TMD22 and Brunton Autoprop information and advice

Hi, You have a couple of possible problems: - are the bearings on the Autoprop been changed since the boat was delivered from Amel? Malfunction from the bearings cause a lot less effective propeller - are the blades moving without force - are there any barnacles on the blades, they create cavitation that reduces the propellors efficiency - check that the fuel valve from the diesel tank is Fully open, if it is partly open the VP can not reach full rpm due to lack of fuel. We have had similar problems and especially the change of bearings created a significant change both in speed and fuel economy. You have most likely a Autoprop H6 with open bearings. On the propeller where the blades are attached you could find the serial number of the propeller that will give you correct bearing set from Brunton.
