Mark,  You may want to consider having your wheel done by ColorWheelzs if you are in the U.S.  We had ours done several years ago and are very pleased with the appearance and feel and the ease to clean. Its a vinyl coating about 1/8 thick in the color of your choice. It also provides insulation from cold as well as electrical shock in event of lightning strike. We have pics on the site or we could send them to you if you would like.
