Amel takes the month of August off for summer holidays. The new model year starts when production begins again in September, hence a boat built in the last quarter of the year will be the next ‘model‘ year. Model year is more important than actual build year as it denotes the latest/most improved evolution of the SM 53. 479 were built in all.

Always interesting to see a sistership. Ours is #350, and it is extremely similar to yours with regard to factory options, with a number of exceptions.
You mention yours is a 2001, which I suppose, like ours, is the delivery date late in the year, and yet the Yacht World ad reads 2002, which is also the year stamped on our manufacturer's plate. We've always wondered what the factory rationale was.
