We installed a Wallas diesel forced air heater on our SM2k. We mounted the unit on the forward surface of the bulkhead at the nav station, where an originial cabin light was installed, so it blows the warm air directly into the middle of the main cabin. We used the cabin light wiring for power. We ran the diesel tube back behind the cabinets then down to the bilge area and directly down the ship's midline to the engine room. We ran the exhaust hose out the cabin rooftop just aft of the fixed portlight running along the starboard side. Very simple. In climates in the 30-40 deg F range, with bow and stern cabin doors closed off, it heats up the main salon very nicely. When not using it and sailing offshore, we tape over the exhaust fitting to prevent salt water from getting back into the exhaust tube. Will send a photo to your email.

Subject: [Amel Yacht Owners] Diesel Heater Installation
We've just purchased a Webasto EVO 5500 heater to use in colder climates without shore power or generator. Does anyone have pictures and/or advice for installation of this or similar systems?
