It has a pin that goes through the middle like a shear pin. The nylon bolts hold it all together. The nylon bolts are the shearing parts, not the metal pin. It us simple and it works (recent unfortunate experience with a stray rope). I put a new prop on wearing a mask from in the water. It wasn't difficult.
