I took another tack; I bought an “auld” boat with only a few miles (9300) under her keel, a Volvo 80HP with only 450 hours and a Onan with less than 300 hours. The rig had also been changed. I am spending the money differential in upgrading the boat to 2015 standards in all matters. This is includes electrical, electronics, comfort and aesthetics. We plan to be on the boat for 7-10 years and having a more frugal vessel is important. The refit is very extensive. If you want to have your own touches into the boat, this may be a good approach as well. There is one 1999 SM2K for sale in SOF for €189K…. May be a good start point. Good luck and welcome aboard. I took delivery of my “auld” girl in Aug 14…. so I was where you’re at just a short time ago. Good luck in the search. For Colin and Lauren: Can you tell me how you get 600 W on the Emek gantry? I am MOST interested…. so far, we’ve only managed 400W. Jean-Pierre Germain SY Eleuthera SM 007.
