Good evening Mark,

fire hazard is always a concern and preventive actions are sometimes the best way to fight a (potential) fire.
Concerning the solenoid switch that changes the source (shore or genset) of AC power that feeds the vessel, its connections (Inside the box) should be checked frequently (once a year, or before a voyage).
If the connections are loose, the contact area is reduced and the amperage has to go through a smaller "channel", leading to warming up, possibly melting the rubber sleeve of the wire that will eventually burn...
Why do the connections come loose? Because of vibrations in the environment (genset, main engine, blowers...) but also further away (rigging, sails).
To prevent the connection screws to get loose, you may apply a drop of nails varnish on the top of each screw. Don't use Loctite on the threads.

I just search for “Télémécanique” on google.fr (france),
In 1988 it became past of Schneider Electric.
I could not find the part 3782180161 in their web site http://www.schneider-electric.fr
May be Olivier will know more about this very specific part…
