Hi Peter,
Sorry I can't help you there. Ive ever had my thruster apart...have only changed the seals, oil, and nylon propeller bolts each time I haul the boat for painting.
Mike,
I used to get water in the oil until I started using the blue LockTite on the prop seal.  I face the seal with the opening toward the oil and pack it with waterproof grease.  Ive had no further water ingress and no oil loss since using that method.

Hi Kent,
I have a Mango that has a different type of designed thruster to the SM. I am currently rebuilding it. My question is? Has there been any information in regard to leaving all the seals in the bearings and just letting the gears in the drive be lubricated by the oil. When I removed the bearings they had all the seals removed but they had also seized.
Thanks for your help
Kind Regards
Peter

I also think it helps to pack the seals with grease.

Mark,

Yes,

I think using RTV on the propeller shaft seal improved the water tightness. Blue or Clear works.

I guess that I should update the instructions in the files section.

Bill,

I am a little confused (very normal for me). Are you saying to use blue RTV on the lower oil seal behind the prop? I was aware that RTV should be used on the upper 80mm lip seal inside the locker, but not the lower lip seal.

With best regards,

Mark

Alan,

Amel sent the following seal for the bow thruster shaft:
Paulstra
792521
IEL 30. 42. 7.
MI 1 VY

When installing it, use some RTV on the outside edge of the seal and make
sure that it is pressed all the way in. The space for the seal is about 9mm
deep and the seal is 7mm thick.
