Hi Eric,

 

The check valve is to keep a head of water for the impeller to run wet as soon as it starts turning.  Just a further precaution… inexpensive too.

 

My mate also told me to order the diverter AND the connector nipples.  I asked for the entire kit as per the photo on my mate’s paper article for his Grand Bank maties..

Not sure but I bet they’ll ship to the USA if asked.

 

I am awaiting a reply to my email as we speak.  I think that between the Vetus duck bill valve on the intake side plus the “blade catchment gizmo”, I should spend less time faffing around with the Onan.

 

I also have a complete second raw water pump ready for action in my spares.
