I now understand what you mean by the 10 mm thickness!!! Around the R8.0 !!!

I no longer have the previous gas strut (which I don’t know if the were original), but on them was written:

I don’t know what it means (except for the 400 newton), I sent it at the time to Bansbach.

Alex,
If you look at the drawing you
posted you omitted the end piece specifications which is
R8.0 thickness 10 for each end, diameter of the hole in the
end which is 8.2mm, and length of the end piece which is
20mm from hole center to pushrod. I think that all of these
are correct, except thickness, which I believe should be 8
or 9mm.
Take another look at
your drawing at http://nikimat.com/engine_room_hatch_gas_strut.html.
There are 12 specifications listed on that drawing...and
each is variable. In addition, there is one more
specification which is the force...it should be
N400.
So, there are 13
different variable specifications when ordering these. It is
not a simple task to get correct. My friend, another SM
owner got it mostly correct. I had to drill the end holes
because he ordered 8mm, and it needed to be larger...your
drawing shoes 8.2mm, and I think that is correct. Also, like
you, my friend ordered 10mm thickness for the ends, but the
original Amel strut was 8mm thick. I had to modify some
things and it almost did not fit.
If you still have an old strut and
you know it is original, compare it to all of the specs on
your drawing.
It is
more complicated than you think, and sometimes we get
lucky!

That description is not complete

because you also need the specification of each end
where

they are connected. I am not sure of the

specification, but I am sure that this is a variable

specification that needs identification.

Like I said, Ben, it is

complicated.

is another story. Do not over-spec the thrust...they

rated at N400. There is no maintenance on these except
