I echo Ian and Judy's response. I recently had the original Onan
water pump rebuilt (1300+ hours on it!) and ordered a new pump also.
The old/original pump was chewing up impellas. Pulling the pump off
requires only undoing of 2 bolts and the hoses attached. If the
impella is broken, its easy to check the hoses for loose fragments,
put the spare pump on, and change the old impella at your leisure.

There is an alternative, really simple, means of accessing the Onan
1. Simply disconnect the two water pipes ( by loosening the two
clips and pulling the pipes off the pump)
2. Undo the two bolts which attach the pump to the engine. There is
between the pump and the engine but the first time you detach the
may have to give it a tap to part it from the engine.
3.With the pump now free you can sit in the cockpit with it, pour
beer and withdraw and replace the impeller at your leisure.
The only downside is that your excuse for colourful language and
knuckles is somewhat reduced.
