In really light air, say less than 10 knots, I may set both poles and use only one head sail, jibbing back and forth as conditions require. The pole is just there to keep the from completely collapsing in the swells.

I went around the world with the solar panels on the rail, with braces beneath. It would be nice not to have the panels sticking out, but, I have not come up with another option.
