I had a manually operated pump which I use for pumping out sea water from the bow thruster near the fore heads sea cock.  It reached down to the bottom of the bilge (at a stretch) and worked fine pumping up into a bucket.  No electric power required, no requirment to store another piece of equipment; althought a wet vac would make the manual pump redundant.   The manual pump easily stores beside the sea cock where it is normally used, is about 60cm (2’) long with a 1m flexible hose.
