Hallo Danny

Thanks for the quick answer.

I know a good eclectic on Martinique. If I still need help, I will gladly contact you again.

Heinz

Hi Heinz,

Sorry, wiser heads than mine set it up. When we bought the boat they were supposed to be linked, and were but not functioning. The broker seemed aware of this and had an experienced captain on the sea trials and he sorted it out. The problem was the "names". You had to have the right "name" entered in both units, so the units could recognise each other and grant permission to link to the name. I remember that he had to alter the name of one or the other and then it was good. Clearly that is a key. The other thing is there is an item between the two which is driven by 120v so I have to have my 120v inverter on for the link to function. I had a new radar installed and the fitter could't understand why this was done but he left it as is saying, its working lets not mess with that. He could not see why 12 v couldn't be used. I am many things but an electronics expert I am not. If you want me to I could talk to him to get more information. He has retired now but he lives locally. To add to the conversation we have, and have had for all our ownership, a full range of Raymarine ST 60+ instruments and auto helm. They do all we want,

Regards

Danny

Hi Dany

It's nice to hear from someone who can connect the old Furono radar to a plotter.

Do you have sketches or photos of how you connected it?

Thank you Heinz

Hi,

We have a Furuno radar at the nav station. It is linked to the Furuno plotter at the helm and can display in various modes there. Full  screen, split screen and over lay. Works well. When doing crossings we have it on split screen at night.

Heinz,

We kept our original AutoHelm autopilot as an installed working back up to our newer, smarter B&G autopilot.  The Autohelm has its own electronic compass, and receives wind data in the same way as it originally did, from the Hydra 0183 output.  It does not receive GPS data, but I never tried to interface it in that way since I never ask my auto pilot to steer a GPS course.  In other words, while it works together with the other instruments, it would not be fair to say it was integrated with them.

The Furuno radar can not send radar data to any other device.  It can, in theory, receive some data on heading and waypoints over 0183 but it requires an obsolete connector that I could never find.

I have attached a schematic of the new things that have been added to our boat.  The original wiring isn't completely shown, even if it is still being used.  Just haven't had time to do that too!

Hi Bill and all,

I am relatively new to the group and have been a proud owner of a SM 2000 for about a year now.

I'm up to do something similar with my SY Quetzal.

I want to install new instruments and I will install a forward scan.

I'd be interested to see if I could join the old autopilot.

Also a connection to the ld and good working Furono Radar would inspire me.

Are there any pictures you could send to me?

I'd be grateful for any information.

Also from other participants of the group.

I fly to Martinique on the 18th and will then start work and do some Fotos.

Thank you for every letter,

and forgive my poor English
