Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] For sale?

Mohammad, I have only replaced the bearings once at about 4,000 engine hours. Getting the bottom bearing in each blade takes a lot of time as the fit is so tight. . I guess it took about 4 hours. Not difficult just time consuming. Fair Winds Eric Kimberlite Amel Super Maramu #376

Thanks Eric; I'll keep that in mind. We did pull the prop off in order to change the C-Drive Oil in 2016. It came off fairly easily.
Did you do a complete overhaul and change all bearings and seals on all blades? How many hours did you have on the prop at the time of overhaul?

Mohammad, That is a great deal. You will know when the prop needs rebuilding. In my case everything looked great, There was little if any play in the blades but I could not get any speed put of kimberlite. I finally decided it was the prop, and in fact it was. If you have trouble removing the prop with the puller and the bolts break. Change to socket head grade 10 or 12 (black) bolts, it makes all the difference in the world. Hi Eric; We purchased their H6 Maintenance Kit which includes the following: Grease Gun, Grease Gun Hose, Grease Nipple, Peg Spanner, H6 Nut Spanner, H6 Tabscrew Spanner, Small Prop Puller Kit and a Tube of Grease. I had the grease gun and the prop puller already on boardand probably could have saved a few bucks by purchasing separate items, but got the package any way as backup. The total cost was 248.90 pound sterling. Ours doesn't need a rebuild yet, but you never know when you are going to need it. Mohammed, Did you also buy the tools needed to rebuild the prop? AB marine rented me the tools for about $50, Fair Winds Eric Kimberlite Amel Super Maramu #376 From: amelyachtowners@... [mailto:amelyachtowners@...]
Hi everyone; FYI, the pricing I received from Brunton direct in England was much better than the one received from the US distributor on the east coast. I ordered a complete rebuild kit plus misc other parts. The shipping was reasonable and quick. Very nice helpful people. Jim, I have a client located near you that is looking for a SM. My fees are paid by my clients and I am not a broker. Let me know.

In case my original post was unclear:
By way of further information, both King Propulsion in Virginia, USA and AB Marine in Rhode Island, USA are authorized Brunton's distributors. When I called AB Marine I was told the plastic cap was unavailable and the zinc cap was about $40.00 US plus shipping. When I called King Propulsion I was told that they would get me the plastic cap right away and ship it in a few days, and that if I wanted a zinc cap I should just order it from boatzincs"dot"com for under $20.00US because if I they sold it to me they would have to charge me about double that amount. |
