   I think that you are right about  ventilation in the chain locker helping to reducing the growth of the the mold in the chain locker.  If  the moisture content of wood is kept below 20-28% (depending on species and whether rot is established already) it won’t rot either.  It is nice to know that people like yourself are doing what they can to take good care of these amazing boats.

You make an excellent point in advising that the chain locker door be opened when the boat is in a marina.  I try to always open the door in a marina and when the boat is out of the water.  The  open door allows a nice air flow through the locker and makes a noticeable difference in the growth of mold and dampness of the wood.
