Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Re: Toe rail / Genoa Track Repair

I like your idea of treating the heads of the stainless bolts with the Corrosion X or Boeshield followed by the plastic protective cover and am thinking of adopting that procedure on my Amel.
I was wondering if any Amel owners have had luck with removing the genoa track bolts? It would be great to be able to renew the caulking seal between the bolt and the fibreglass to prevent the entry of salt water which causes this kind of damage. Even the best caulking tends to break down and lose their seal after 10-15 years.
One other question. I have not seen the swelling and rust as shown in the photo on the Maramu’s that I have been aboard to date even thought many of them are a decade or more older than the 1997 SM shown in the photo. Is this a known problem for the Maramu models as well or is there some difference in the construction?
