Unfortunately, I think that is the case. If there is a plate, I'm not aware of it. Fuel polishing services use a hose within a hose (one squirting and one sucking) to stir up all the crud in the bottom of the tank and then suck it out for filtration.

Where are the cleanout inspection plates on my 1985 Sharki ? . Do i need to clean the debris out thru the filler hose?
