Hi Haje,

When I took mine apart there was deffinately grease in it not oil. i have seen other postings were people have said the same thing. Several have suggested a heavy weight silicon based grease and at least one has said 90W gear oil. I filled mine with grease and it sems to be working fine. In the end it might be wise to contact Amel to be sure. Please let me know if you get an answer. Sorry I did not take any pictures when I had the unit apart.

Tom

Morning Haje,

There is an aluminum plate on the bottom. remove the small screws and it should slide off over the bolts. I had to use a butter knife ground smooth and flat as a wedge between the plate and the housing to get it started. Once its off you will have access to lower end bearings and seal. The side rectangular access panel will let you get at the worm gear and the leaver. The leaver engages/ disengages the worm grear. The small circular panel allows you access to the worm gear bearings and seals.

Hope that helps!!

Tom

Dear Tom,

Thanks for the advice. I got the engine restored by our local
starterengine shop (costs EUR 400,00, but it was a rustdump before and
new now).
After a lot of WD40 the shear pin came out, but still the manual wheel
is stuck to the box. Therefore I released the bolts which hold the
aluminium profile to the wheel and now there sepparated.

After a day of WD40 and using ample force the box starts to move
again. The wheel turns on handforce and goes smoother every minute.
Only the lever doesn't get into gear anymore. Beneath the axial
conextion between the engine and the actual roller there's a aluminium
housing. How do I get into there? And what can I expect to find inside
(what kindof clutch etc.).

Thanks, Hajé
