We have a Raymarine VHF with a fog horn. The horn speaker is mounted pointed down directly above the first Mizzen spreader. It has a number of options. It only broke once when we were hit by a breaking wave in a hurricane. It has work flawlessly. We have a handset at the helm and at the nav station. Running a wire from the mizzen to the nav station is very easy. Not so easy from the main mast. Fair Winds Eric Kimberlite Amel Super Maramu #376

Has anyone fitted a foghorn on the main mast? I don't see too many boats with one, but we were in fog for 8 hours earlier this year, and an automatic horn driven by the vhf would have been great.
If you have one, would you recommend the brand?
