- supplemental downwind sailing configuration for Super Maramu
Re: supplemental downwind sailing configuration for Super Maramu
Did you have to modify the ballooner and add a gaiter? Where do you attach it
to on the foredeck?

I have an asymmetric spy on a top-down furling RollGen 20 by Bamar.
I have enjoyed it for more than 6 years with the main advantage of being able
to deploy and furl back with just my wife, something that is a major plus for
me. Also, it takes a lot of turns to furl but we use the electric winch
to do it.
It is also important to make sure that the apparent wind is
not less than 90 degrees or more than ~150 degrees to furl correctly.
A couple of times we totally lost all wind and furling could
be done poorly and had to be redone as soon as we got back some wind.
Here are a couple of pix of Ipanema under spy
