Re: Propane Conversion

Porter, et al,

Judy and I filled our US bottles each time we attempted to, around the world. It seems there is always a "guy." I know some EU boat with GAZ bottles that could not say the same.

Mark. We have not had an issue refilling with our US fiberglass bottles in Nuku Hiva or Tahiti, or Galapagos for that matter. We have both French fittings and US fittings to the gas line but haven’t used the French fitting since Martinique. Haven’t even seen a French bottle out there.

We’re a little low on the grill bottle so will try to have that filled either here in Raiatea or Bora Bora. I’ll let you know.

Several buddies got conversion kits. But haven’t  used them.

Hope this helps.

Cream Puff was converted to a USA propane fitting long before our ownership. In getting ready for the Pacific, I understand we will not have access to propane nor USA fittings since most of the islands are French.

Can anyone recommend where and what to buy that would enable us to convert cooking gas to the French system. (I probably should have thought about this while in Martinique). We currently have access to Amazon (USA) as we have a guest (aka mule) arriving who can tote stuff for us to Panama. Or, we can just order from Amazon/eBay Europe

I am thinking this might work but not having a French tank to look at I am unsure:

Do I also need to replace the regulator?
