We just overnighted at Hancocks. Indeed, the Cohansie is generally very deep. Charts do not indicate depths. While pretty close to the center of the river, we did run aground, needed to kedge off. But again, most areas are 15 to 30 feet. Depending on timing, mosquitoes and/or green heads can be a real nuisance. On the New Jersey Atlantic coast, I would be reluctant to go into Manasquan. Not really anything between Atlantic City and Sandy Hook. However, Sandy Hook has always been a surprisingly beautiful anchorage. Three weeks ago we saw a breaching humpback right in Raritan Bay.
