Had to laugh at this! Exactly what we did last summer, Ken. The Erie Canal is 2 to 3 meters deep for most of its 310 mile length. If you wish to transit it in the same month, you run 6-7 knots! And I took out one Garmin transducer and one bow thruster as a result! Truthfully, it was not the depth so much as the debris in the water. I like the forward looking sonar, but in the canal all it did was scare you. We finally stopped watching it.
