My understanding is that the 55s do not have the additional twin Pullman bunk berths which for me is a negative.
I have been more drawn to 54s but am overwhelmed by changes during production run having heard that initial furlers were so bad they needed to be replaced and Volvo engine woes.
It is a pitty there is not a spreadsheet that details when Amel made the various changes and associated issues.
This forum has really opened my eyes to so many issues.

Hello Ms. Sloman and Mr. Harries. I wrote this not too long ago and although there are no graphs and polar charts, I think I can promise you that the information is accurate and fully representative of the sailing characteristics and some other information regarding these three Amel boats. The only incorrect information is regarding the development of the Amel 54. Jean Jacques was already the elected chairman of the shipyard, not being groomed for the position as I wrote. I regret the error.
The changes from model to model were mainly upgrades and evolutionary changes. The quality of overall construction improved slightly as the newer models were introduced, mainly reflective of newer materials and improved construction techniques.
I could probably address more specific questions, preferably by conversation. I’m dyslexic and typing is almost painful…
