Re: [Amel] Panama boatyard recommendations?

Mark, You won't find a lot of good places. You may consider going south a few hundred miles to Puerto Lucia Yacht Club. firstname.lastname@example.org in Ecuador, They have a nice place but I think they've gone up on their prices. George Stewart (email@example.com) runs the yard and he does great work at very reasonable prices. His regular labor is $70.00 per day and the mechanics and carpenters are $30.00 per hour. We also hired a local guy for $25.00 per day and loved him. We kept him busy for 2 weeks. I think the high cost of the marina, hawl out, etc. will be balanced by low yard prices. You won't lose much time by going south as you will reach the trade winds a lot quicker when heading west. John "Moon Dog" SM 248

Subject: [Amel] Panama boatyard recommendations?
We're looking for a boatyard in the vicinity of the Pacific side of Panama canal for a haulout, bottompaint, and a place to leave our Amel for a few months before our Pacific crossing. Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance!
