Re: Santorin - Genoa furler lost his teeth!! :(

Hi All,
my SM-37 has the same gearbox.  Alban told me he had just rebuilt it when I purchased the boat in 2016.  He is in Martinique and may have a lead on parts for it.

Riccardo, none that I am aware of. If I were you, I would ask SAV@.... I believe they will not have this, but you never know until you ask.

It will take a very good machine shop to duplicate the bronze Spur Gear. You might want to get the machine shop to also disassemble, clean, replace bearings and seals, and reassemble then test the gearbox. To replace this Amel genoa gearbox with something else that is also electric may cost 10-12,000 €, so you might consider spending 1,000 - 2,000 € making this original gearbox new again. If you choose to do this, please post the details here because I am sure there are other Amel owners with the same early gearbox used on Maramus, Santorins, Mangos, and even early SMs...they will want to know.

You might also ask all Amel owners if they have a spare bronze gear for this early model furler. I show that this early furler was named NIREN.

Hi Bill
Thanks for replying!

Yes our furler model is the early one, your fist picture.
So from what you say looks like there are no replacement kits for the old one?

Thanks
Riccardo
