Hello John

If gear oil is leaking from where the prop shaft enters the housing
the most likely culprit is the wearing bearing. This a simple
replacement and is part of Amels sheduled maintenance regiment.
Usually it is every 800 hours. The rings are made of rubber so they
may have been damaged. If you do have a leak than most likely water
has entered your gear housing so you should make sure that it is well
flushed. Also, dont wait too long to do it as salt water and metal
gears are not a good mix.

ALSO I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH GEAR OIL LEAKING FROM THE PROPELLER
HOUSING WITH ONLY 338 ENGINE HOURS. IS THIS A COMMON OCCURENCE WITH
OTHER AUTOPROP VERSIONS?
