Re: [Amel] Wintering Turkey / Greece

We always had our general work done by Selmar Yacht Service in Turgutreis.
Last year, we were on the hard stand at Yalikavak to have our rigging
replaced by Sound Yachts. We had a major service done on our engine this
year by Tuncar Marine. They are also at Yalikavak and did a good job but
they are reasonably expensive. Our boat was in the marina at Turgutreis when
this was done and we had to pay 15 Euro plus tax per person per day entry
fee because they came from another marina and there were workshops in our
marina that did the same thing.

If you are having a problem with your bow thruster, we recommend Aura
Yachting at Yalikavak in Turkey. They are a charter company but employ an
English marine engineer to service their boats. He and his Turkish
counterpart were the first people to be able to separate ours after 5
of our ownership. Turned out some previous service operator had put the
seals in upside down, causing the the steel ring to corrode and grip the
fibre glass tube. We had so much water coming in that we had to put a
pump in the space in front of the forward head. We have just sailed from
Turkey to Morocco and there was not a drop came in. They would only do
job between doing their own boats but they were very good and a very
reasonable price.

D Marin in Turgutreis is an excellent marina for security and easy
but has become very expensive. We had our boat there for 5 winters. D
at Didim is offering good deals but the marina is not handy to shops for

Hi, we are about to winter our boat in either Turkey (Bodrum /
Gocek area) or Greece (same area) for the coming winter. this will
involve few light repairs and services: engine, whinches, anti fouling,
thruster service... since we have no time to be present / supervise and
inspect we need a reall trustable professional boatyard (we also
it has a cost which is obvious and ok).
1. Could anyone recommend such boatyard (believe Turkey can ofer more).
2. Is there any 'Amel Special' items you wouldn't trust such boatyard
perform themselves?
3. are there any special items 'not to miss' upon lifting of the boat?
