After a very long winter without use, I tried tu turn my refrigerator yesterday and the compressor failed to start. It was working fine last year but this time all it does is to generate a humming sound withut any cooling. I left if over one hour on and the compressor gets warm but the refrigerator still does not get cool. Although the thermostat seems to work (hear the click at one point), I tried bypassing the thermostat at the box with no results.

My bateries are fully charged and I tried also turning on the engine (incresing the voltage to 28V) but that did not work either

Has anyone had this problem, and if so, what is the solution?

Also, I noted a switch and a red light that does not turn on below the refrigerator. What is it for?

I tried turning the refrigerator on with the switch in both positions with no results.

Any help and suggestions, including names of repairman or parts store in the US will be greatly appreciated.
