Re: [Amel] Going up the mast
John and Anne on Bali Hai
Hello Kent, The loose tier of the snatch block on the port side of the mast should make it easier to avoid overrides and at any event so long as the halyard is held in a jammer during the up operation there is plenty of risk free time to sort out an override. When I've tried to use the windlass, I've found it almost impossible to avoid overrides. I've always thought I was going up in relative safety until I learned of the runaway winch, now just rethinking what's the best way to avoid or react to that scenario.
