Re: [Amel] looks like somebody stole the maramu hull mold.

Many boats have a better galley layout than our old Maramu's. Amel certainly recognized that when they developed the Super Maramu. It's one of the few drawbacks of the Maramu. I am fine with the mast being deck stepped. In some regards it's better. If we were dismasted there would be no chance of the mast wreaking havoc below and compromising the integrity of the hull.

Truthfully, I like the opening port lights in the aft cabin, as well as the hatch there in the overhead. The galley also has a better layout than the Maramu. In addition, the main mast looks to be keel-stepped.

There is no truth to any statement in this yachts listing saying it is in

any way related to an Amel. The yard that built it was a small French

shipyard that built a limited number of rather high quality cruising

sailboats of which I sold a few on the brokerage market in the 1980's. I

showed one of these to George Day, the past editor of Cruising World now

the editor of Blue Water Sailing, many years ago before he took his family

on a circumnavigation. They eventually selected a Mason 43' for their voyage

but George was impressed with the strength and attention to detail that was

very evident. I believe that perhaps the yards name is spelled incorrectly

in this listing and any reference to this having any relation to the Amel

Shipyard simply is not true in any way.

Sweet boat but NOT an Amel.

All the best,

stumbled across this on yachtworld.

not interested in buying it but i'm kinda surprised to find a amel look

alike, yet kinda surprised that a yard in China didn't try to copy the boat.

Any thoughts?
