You will find many previous posts regarding this. Do a search for "Boot Stripe". We also plan to raise our water line at the next haul out. The bottom paint at the stern sits right at the water line and we have a few blisters just above the bottom paint. The orange stripe is painted on and no-doubt can be removed or painted over: Here is a good thread: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/amelyachtowners/message/8744 Mark and Cindy Cream Puff SM#275

SM Headsail furler maintainance

Can anyone tell me what maintainance one should be doing to the headsail furler motor/gear box assembly on the SM. I have had my boat for 7 years now this must be one of the very few bits I haven't taken to pieces yet!

SM waterline
Graham Boyd
I don't know about any one else but much as I love these boats I am fed up of the fact that they float stern down.... or perhaps the waterline was put in the wrong place at build?! When I lived in N Europe it wasn't too much of a problem but now I am in the tropics its impossible to keep her stern clean. Has any one had thier SM's water line raised at the stern, if so by how much, and was it dificult removing the orange stripe that is in the gelcoat?
I look forward to your comments Graham Boyd SM140 SULA

SM C/U drive (engine to prop connection) oil leak
Graham Boyd
A few days ago we were unfortunate enough to hit a very large submerged heavy duty commercial tarpaulin, whilst motoring at 7.3 kts. The engine stopped dead and we made it to port by "other means".
The obstruction was cleared, but since then I have noticed a small oil leak has developed around the area where the plastic oil refill pipe connects into the C drive unit that connects the engine gear box to the prop. It may just be pure coincidence, but the shock of the engine stopping so suddenly may have caused this problem. Has any one else suffered a leak like this before? Does any one have a drawing of the C drive unit showing all the components? I look forward to all comments Graham Boyd SM140 SULA

Hello :),
When we bought our SM 148 (PITU), she had installed an Immarsat C H2095B without box. I wonder If someone in this forum has this equipment. Does it work properly? Is it toooo old? Should it be change? We have our SM in Cagliari,Sardinia (Italy). Would some one know a good technician that we will be able to have a look at our communication system? We are thinking to have a BLU. Kind regards, Maria Geiger SY PITU

Re: [Amel] Lemma Insurance Bankruptcy
john martin <symoondog@...>
Hi Gary, Sorry to hear of your bad luck. We were with Lemma until recently but (due to no foresight about their bankruptcy, we simply needed different coverage) we just got a new policy with ACE American Insurance Company provided by Morgan Wells with Jack Martin & Associates Insurance in Annapolis. 800-421-8818. We found the new policy & premium to be very competetive for sailing the Caribbean area. Good luck !John & RuthMOON DOGSM 248
To: amelyachtowners@... From: no_reply@... Date: Mon, 22 Oct 2012 17:13:45 +0000 Subject: [Amel] Lemma Insurance Bankruptcy I have had my Amel SM insured with Lemma Insurance (Lemma Europe Insurance Company) through Bill Coats at Offshore Risk Management of Florida. On 17 Oct 2012 I received an eMail from Offshore Risk Management indicating that Lemma Europe is in liquidation and that, while my policy is in force, there is a strong possibility that there be insufficient funds to pay future claims. OH GREAT!!! I have roughly 1/4th of my annual $US 6,500 premium tied up in this now bankrupt company. I would welcome any thoughts from the readership on different brokers or insurance companies. I feel like I need to secure alternative insurance soon, just in case. I think I will go with a USA company since things look so bleak for Europe right now (not that they are all that great for the USA). My boat is on the hard in a cradle in Jolly Harbor Antigua. We have kept the boat in the hurricane box for each of the last 6 years. The one time we brought the boat out of the box was to Florida where we had 3 hurricanes come close, one within 60 miles of our boat, while there. We finally went back to the Caribbean where we have felt safer from hurricanes. Thanks for your input. Gary Silver Amel SM 335 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Re: [Amel] Lemma Insurance Bankruptcy
Hi Gary. That sucks...I hate it when my best efforts find me behind the 8Ball. Give Keenan Marine a chance to give you a quote. I've been with them for 5 years now and think they have found me a very competitive policy. They recommended changing to another carrier two years ago for the best fit for my needs. My current policy is with Seaworthy Insurance.
Good luck. Kent SM243 Kristy Sent from my BlackBerry® smartphone powered by Alltel

Hi Alexandres,
To find us, take the coconut milk run from Panama across the Pacific to the Marqueses islands, then through French Polynesia, then if you can tear yourself away, to Tonga then to Fiji. Turn left and 1200 miles and you are in New Zealand. Our home port is Mangonui in the far north. You have the boat that is expressly designed for a voyage such as this.
