Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Cockpit Table

Hi Kent, The U-bolt did have a lanyard fitted for holding the engine compartment cover upwards when servicing. The lanyard had a end knot which connected to a slot in the cover. Eugene

I'm unclear as to the mounting bracket. Is it attached to the middle of the table so that it rotates? Can it be locked in any position? Can it be folded down out of the way, or must it be removed and stowed?
On another note, what is the U-bolt for that is attached to the line holder by the table bracket?
I'm also looking for some different arrangement for the cockpit table, anyone else have other ideas?
Steady as she goes.
Thanks,

You can turn the table around the pole that is attached to the rope-container (first arm), and you can swing the table around the arm that is attached to the first arm. You can not fold it, you just lift table and second arm from the first arm and stowe it away. You can remove the first arm as well if you like. If you follow the URL in y first mail, you will find the components and will understand how it works.
Oh, If I could attach pictures to the mail it would have been so much easier. But I have posted some more pictures that might enlight you.

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Cockpit Table
Paul LaFrance <pflafrance@...>
Hi Kent & Ann-Sophie We have this table and just love it. It is compact and stows away in a nice neat package. We mount it on the locker side on the permanent mounting bracket that takes up so little room and the engine room cover can be raised. Takes about 1 minute to mount the table to this bracket. We put it on the side as we removed the helm seat supplied by Amel and installed a seat similar to a STIDD seat. Everyone loves this arrangement who sails with us. Cockpit Table
islandbwoy4434
We are looking for more details on how the cockpit table on the Super Maramu 2000 that is mounted to the rear of the captains chair is constructed. The standard cockpit table that came with our SM (1997) is too large for every day use and we are looking for an alternative.
Thanks in advance. Terry&Dena SV Libby # 196 San Diego

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Low revs/Volvo TMD22 /auto prop
Danny and Yvonne SIMMS
Hi Kent, not sure I would say they are prone to malfunction, rather that they need periodic maintenance. On mine one blade had more pitting on the thrust bearing surface, less on another and none on the third. There was no vibration. They seemed to spin smoothly and freely and had I not listened carefully I may not have heard the rumble I have read on another forum that the bearings should be replaced every 1000 motoring hours. Bruntons give a good service in providing the spare kits and giving detailed instructions in how to undertake what I found to be a straightforward replacement. You may well have had an oversize prop. Mine was 480mm swept area, others are 560mm. I believe the 560 should be for the 100 hp but that is only an assumption. The blade area on my fixed prop is much greater
than the auto prop and when it was on my revs did not improve. Cheers Danny SM 299 Ocean Pearl

Back when I had the TMD22 the blades seemed to spin freely on the hub so I assumed it was OK. There was never any vibration from the prop either. It didn't seem logical that all 3 blades would malfunction at the same rate, and that an asymmetric malfunction would cause the prop to vibrate. It sounds like that line of thinking is wrong and that one of the first things to be done is service the prop. In my case I put the spare prop on and still didn't get the rpms up. Servicing the prop was one thing I didn't do. I doubt it has ever been done on my Autoprop. It's too bad that these props are so prone to malfunction. Kent SM243 Kristy

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] RE: Low revs/Volvo TMD22 /auto prop
Danny and Yvonne SIMMS
Hi Bill, I do around 2 to 300 hours a year so 800 to 1200 hours. There is a lip seal outside the bearings. When I do my regular greasing and push the old grease out with the new it has no obvious water in it. A post I did a few days ago listed all the parts. If you look back on my previous posts you will see that under water I spun the blades by hand and although they seemed to move smoothly there was a light rumble. Being under water the sound was easier to hear. Only some thrust bearing surfaces were pitted, and not excessively. All the balls were fine. Regards Danny SM 299 Ocean Pearl

Thanks for the information. Do you happen to know how many engine hours since the bearing replacement...and does your model autoprop have sealed bearings, or are they open to sea water? Best, Bill BeBe, #387
