Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Noisy outhaul drive on main boom

Roy,
The winch is mounted to the boom. It does not come off with the shaft. Just remove the nut on the top of the arm which is attached to the shaft on top of the winch, and pound away with a sledge. You might bend a bolt or two as s/s is a little soft for hammering. Make sure you have a long bolt for this hammering. This subject has come up before. Go to the bottom of the page and type
in faux teak and hit search to see all the postings. As an alternative get an estimate for covering with TEK-DEK which is a sort of cork planking. Probably costly but would look good and would keep the deck from getting so hot in the tropics. Regards, Anne and John

SM 2000 Year 2003, # 396 is now for sale.
Göran Svensson
This is an opportunity to obtain a very well maintained `as new' SM,
very little used with low engine hours. It has only been sailed across the Atlantic directly after delivery in 2003 and after that used by us for about 2 months total during winter and spring 2004 and 2005.In the hurricane season the yacht has been stored in a protected boat yard. The list of optional equipment is very extensive. Location: Bradenton, Florida. Asked price $ 595.000 (European VAT not paid) Don't hesitate to ask for specifications and photos. Kind regards Göran Svensson

Stern bumper
Willem J. Kroes <willem.j.kroes@...>
Has anyone also had a bad experience with a relatively new stern
bumper? I bought from the Amel yard in april 2004 a new bumper and within a few months the cover material showed some scars and this summer the cover material started peeling off. I contacted Amel on this issue and they offered me a new one for half the price. Because I think that the problem is the bad quality of the cover material - which is definately not the same material as used on the original bumper that lasted for more than 10 year - I hesitate to accept this offer (which in fact I judge not to be generous at all, if the problem is a an inferior product that was sold). This summer I met an other Amel Santorin in Sardinia with a relatively new bumper that also shows cover material peeling off. So my question is are there more owners of Amel boats with recent bumpers showing peeling off of the cover material? Willem J. Kroes Amel Santorin "Kavanga" Arbatax, Sardinia

Chain Counter
mcymabm <mcymabm@...>
Hi Alain,...who answered me a long time ago, while I was at sea
Thank you for your advice. I actually have done that…..not quite match with an AMEL boat!! But I find much more convenient and secure to be able to manoeuvre the windlass from the cockpit because I can help with the engine in order not to pull too much on it. Since, I persevere in my search of a solution. It happens that the first Super Maramu which turned on in Panama after me also had a problem with its chain counter( quality confirmed) and nevertheless the AMEL refusal to help, we managed with a professional electronician to make one with two …or nearly. On getting the anchor back on board, the counting of the "ten" figure works well but the unit figure goes wrong ; e.g. 40,41…49,30,31, ….39,20 and so on. Does anybody know the solution to that?
