NMEA 0183
hns154es <hns154es@...>
Dear Richard, Gottschalk and John
Thanks to all of you for helping us, to connect NMEA of the B&G Hydra 2 to the other instruments. Once you know how it works, it is easy: As a resume of all your infos: The NMEA FFD is used to connect the Hydra 2 system to a NMEA device. To do this, the NMEA FFD has a 9 core cable of which brown, blue and violet are used for NMEA. NMEA Input Signal - Brown NMEA Input Return - Blue NMEA Output Signal - Violet NMEA Output Ground - Black Safe sailing to all of you und immer eine handbreit Wasser unter dem Kiel :-) Hanspeter & Nathalie Wehrli Sm #158 "NatHape" http://nathape.sailingsite.org

I connected the ST7000 to the B&G in order to display true wind info
on the B&G using heading info from the Raytheon fluxgate compass. This may not be want you want but see message 155 which contained advice from B&G Technical Dept and was very helpful. Hallo Hanspeter,
PFM53 <pfm53@...>
Hi all
I had announced my intent to sell "PFM" (SM #133) awhile back, and I received several inquiries. But with work, travel, and a home remodel, I did not have the information together. I have finally completed putting the information together. She is currently lying in Trinidad, and is definitely FOR SALE. You can see pictures and get the information on the web site WWW.ECOCONUTINC.COM. JD

Hello again,
This subject is being flogged to death! The contact glue is probably Evostik. Used to fix laminates to kitchen work tops etc. Much loved by teenage gluesniffers. Obviously it makes a good emergency solution. Perhaps that product used to stop fanbelts slipping would also work. I suggested kevlar rope as it worked when we had a problem in Turkey. It had to be sent in from Istambul to the huge marina at Marmaris and even then only 12mm. was available. Since then I have bought a replacement in the UK to keep as a spare, it is 10mm. Spectra which is even more stretch resistant than kevlar and I had the chandlery put an eye splice in one end, incidentally the ends are melted neatly so perhaps it is similar to the New England product which is nt available in Europe. Unfortunately different manufacturers have different names for products which are probably virtually identical. Regards from Sicily, Anne and John

by adhesive I mean a contact glue. The type that you apply normally to both surfaces, allow to dry for about 15 minutes then press together. A common brand in the UK is called Bostik, though on Crusader I have a tin of something else, but I forget its name. I guess they are all much the same. I hope that helps. Regards Ian

have to improvise if you don't have the part, and the adhesive I found worked very well. Incidentally I have found the same problem with the main sheet traveller at times. The rope seems to shrink and stretch with the climate and if you tighten the rope too much, it can be tough to move the traveller when the rope shrinks. So I keep it on the slack side and stop it slipping with a little adhesive. It may help me keep sailing a few years longer! All the best Ian Quoting minaxi53 <no_reply@yahoogroups.com>:

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Outhaul
Robin Cooter <robincooter@...>
From experience one of the key factors is how you
attach the line to the car. I secure the outhaul end (the end which is under tension when the sail is out)with a knot - fisherman's bend is favourite because it doesn't slip - and sew or whip the "loose" end for extra security. I then take the weight on that end so I have maximum slack to tie the other end. You can't work a fisherman's bent tight enough so use a round turn and two half hitches, pulling up as tight as you can and whipping or sewing the end. I have been amazed at how much a knot will give when load is repeatedly applied and released.
