Call your insurance company and have the information on his (the fellow who smacked you)insurance ready to give them.

Get the damage inspected and described by a AMEL knowledgeable marine surveyor. Knowledgeable is the key word here. If the surveyor is not extremely familiar with AMEL boats, he will miss the important details. The closest one to you is Paul Anstey 954 270 1940 panstey@... . Paul has surveyed more Amel boats in North America than everyone else combined. He also was a fiberglass boat builder and knows what to look for. 
A survey is essential to have the platform to enable proper repairs to be done and a reference to depend on if things don't go according to plans and promises.
I have been involved in many of these circumstances with my clients and I can tell you that I'm sorry for you and GET EVERY PROMISE/ PROPOSAL IN WRITING. 
Sorry to be so cynical but experience has been a cruel teacher.
Paul is not my brother in law and I make nothing for the referral other than the knowledge you will be well taken care of.

I project to use it in ORION, my AMEL 54, the sensor beeing special to VETUS waterlock. I think that beeing directly in the water flow it is a good solution.

I think it is the motor as I have disconnected the motor from the control unit – I ran 24 volts directly to it via a 10amp circuit breaker. On trying this way it makes a little noise and movement almost immediately followed by the circuit breaker blowing.

 

Also immediately after this first occurred the motor was very hot and the cabin smelt of electrical burning.

Bob,

Whilst awaiting replacement shrouds a strong storm hit Easter Island which forced the lower shrouds to completely fail. Obviously had ropes all over the place but the continues battering snapped one shroud then few hours later the other on the other side. 

Unfortunately the storm was not over which lead to the mast morphing into a S shape, this is usual before complete failure of a mast. Luckily this did not occur and was able to straighten it out when the rigger arrived with replacement shrouds, it would hold for the second half of the Pacific crossing but at a snails pace. 

Once the repairs was done this was when the rigger had a look at the current setup and he believed that certain shrouds, and turnbuckles were not sufficient for the potential forces exerted from the mast and sail size.

I do not understand what you mean by your mast "morphing" Can you detail what happened to cause you to need to replace your mast? Do you know what might of been done to prevent the problem?

Hello Pat,

There is indeed a twin engine option; it comes with 2 sensor collars.  One less hole at the 24 V panel.

I will also get the water alarm sensor.

Thank you for the info.  Why did you purchase two exhaust units instead of a "twin engine" system which would hook into a single panel warning device?  If the engine is running, you are unlikely to have the Onan on line and vice versa.  So if any alarm sounds, you just stop the running plant.  My thoughts only...

As much as I tried to review the posts on the above subject, as much as "loading" was displayed, YAHOO delivered a ... nothing.

If ever we can make a move to somewhere else might be a good thought... rant over!

How are these Borel exhaust temp sensors wired?  Being 12 volt units, do you just connect to the small alternator on the engine and Onan?  Did you buy the 2 engine unit and connect Onan to one and engine to other or did you buy 2 different single engine units?

For the bilge pump time run alarm, where did you source the 24 volt feed?

I know the answers are already in the Yahoo site but I cannot see the entire emails re the thread.

As mentioned, ours too is 10mm but the paperwork from the rigging company Amel uses (ACMO) showed that it is meant to be 12mm.

These were the shrouds that strangely failed in less than 8 years and the Cataya not having had any challenging sailing having been stationed in the Mediterranean with its previous owner.

Keep an eye on your shrouds prior to any long voyages and to any remote locations, we are having to replace the mast due to the lower shrouds failing and the mast morphing.
