Good Morning Hanspeter,

Did you happen to also see Hemera at Yacht Classic Marina also? That wind that comes through Göcek causes havoc on the Municipal Marina. We had to move there for a couple of nights for the same reason.

Cheers

Renew fake teak deck on Maramu #148

mkbiz@...

The fake teak deck on my Maramu from 1984 is beginning to show more cracks now than I could locally repair so I wonder what options I would have.

At some spots the cracks go through to the GFK. I 'think' one previous owner might already have painted the deck once, but I am not sure about it.

One idea would be to sand the whole deck, put on a layer of epoxy and lay Flexiteak or something similar on it. Or just paint it with anti slip paint.

Any recomendations of you who faced the same problem ?

Michael

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] wind generator mizzen bracket - Santorin mizzen mast measures

Siviero Attilio <attilio.siviero@...>

Hi all, especially Santorin owners,

since I want to fit a mizzen bracket to put my windgen Silentwind, now on top of mizzen mast, and too noisy, I wonder if any Santorin owner, now on board, can give me an info about the approx curve radius of the mizzen mast, even at reachable height from the aft deck (say 2.5m, 8.2ft) , in order to prepare joint plates to connect brackets to mast.

Once my techie made it on a SM with a molded bar of plumb or similar material, and then he traced the curve on a white piece of paper, to figure-out a sort of radius, but he lost the paper and the SM is overseas. Amel SAV does not replies to my query on Santorin construction drawings.

Thanks for any help

Hello Siviero,

I have the wind generator mounted on my mizzen mast just below the radar antenna as you propose.  I don't know if it's because of the type of generator we have (AirBreeze with aftermarket propellers) or if the location is good, but we have no issue with vibration or excessive noise.  This is the bracket I used: http://www.hamiltonferris.com/products/Wind_Power/Wind_Generator_Mounts/51.  I did modify it with an aluminum plate riveted onto the top of the horizontal arms for additional rigidity.  The biggest problem was routing the wire/cable through the mast, into one of the internal conduits -just like the radar antenna installation.  Sorry, I don't have a drawing with dimensions.  You might be able to get a drawing of the bracket with dimensions from the source.

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Re: New Cooker/Oven for an early SM

Stephen Davis

Hello Jean Pierre,

We replaced our ailing original Electrolux with the Dickenson Caribbean model. It was an easy fit, and we think the quality is better than both the Eno and the Force 10. It only has 2 burners, but they are 11,000 btu and 7000 btu. The competition only has a 7000 btu burner as the largest available. The 11000 btu burner is very effective. We have found from previous experience that having 3 or more burners is not all that great, as you cannot fit more than 2 normal size pans on the stovetop. We were concerned with oven size, and the Caribbean has the same size oven as a 3 burner Force 10. Also, we found that the 3 or more burner models were deeper, and would not adequately gimbal without some major modifications to the galley.

We have had our Caribbean model installed for a couple of months now, and are very happy with it. It will cost you a few hundred dollars more, but in my opinion is worth the money.

Hope the refit is going well, and you on schedule for July.

Cheers,
Steve Davis

Hi Peter

On the SN that is for the shaft alternator, the key is for switching it on and off, Green Light indicates charging, Red Light no charging. The key is used to prevent turning it on when the engine is running

Hello Gang,

I am considering replacement of the original unit with either GN Espace 4 Burner or a Force 10 4 burner compact unit.

Has anyone changed for the original unit?  What did you choose?

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] FW: ampoules voyants tableau

Bill & Judy Rouse <yahoogroups@...>

Mark,

On BeBe, the pressure switch is a double pole switch that turns on/off the + and also turns on/off the -

From left to right the wiring is:
+ from breaker
+ to motor and + to light on breaker panel (2wires)
The above is switch #1

- to motor
- from breaker panel
The above is switch #2

When the motor turns on, the light turns on.

I am guessing that the "red" wire might be the + from the motor. It would be red if the pump was changed out with a USA pump...and the - would probably be black rather than blue.

If there is a jumper wire, it probably would be between the last two above, leaving only the + to switch on/off. Why someone would do this is unknown, unless maybe the contact points of the switch were burned and not working. If so, replace the switch...you can buy it at home depot. It is fairly easy to install, adjusting the pressure is as much art as skill. Let me know if you need advice on this. I received an advance degree a few years ago. With 14 pumps on a SM, you too will become Dr. Pump. It is difficult at first, but achieved easier than I thought.

Hope this helps.

I have 10 points, going for 20. Look at the wiring inside the pressure
