Eric, Do you own a Amel ? If so what model and power source is your watermaker ? I want to give it someone that needs it or could use it for parts .There was a few different models and they are not interchangeable as to parts. Being in Annapolis is good, as I don't need the hassle of shipping.

Vladimir, This watermaker would have no parts that you could use on your new Amel. The price you were quoted was indeed a rip off. The seals should not be much more than $10 and perhaps less.

Good morning Paul,

We have the same:
http://nikimat.com/water_maker_duo_d60.html
I speak French, but from memory the owner manual didn’t say much.

I am very new at using my water maker, had it completely serviced earlier this year since it had not been used since I purchase my vessel in 2012.
I had put: new membrane, new high pressure switch. I wanted to change the high pressure hose, but service person said they were still good, which was a mistake as one blew up not too long ago and luckily only damaged my inverter…

Hopefully you can get additional feed back from others.
If you don’t know when your water maker was last used, at least change the membrane and the high pressure hoses.

To operate it, it is easy (just used it for 5 hours 2 days ago crossing to Nassau)
Prior to using: make sure the through hull valve is open, the filter is clean, etc.

in 24 volt mode: turn the switch to the left (24 Volt)
At first you will see an orange light. The water maker will be discarding bad water to the same hose as the bilge pump.
After a little while the green light will appear.
Make sure to adjust the knob to remain in the green arc.
The little bubble will show you how many litters per hour you are making.
From the little faucet you can use a PPM meter and see how many particule you have.
With a new membrane I have 10…
I forgot at what number you should be changing the Membrane (I am sure Bill or someone will give the number).

in 220 Volt mode:
Note: this is 220 Volt 50 Hz. So depending where you are located, make sure it is 50 HZ. The US, Bahamas, etc. provide 60 HZ so you would have to run your generator in order to get 50 HZ.
Turn swtich to the right (220 Volt) and the same as above.

I monitor with the water floating stick that I am making water.

On my side I preferred to hire a professional to check the high pressure switch and the quality sensor.
Don’t forget to change the high pressure hoses if you don’t know the last time they were changed.
A failure of these can cost you several thousands of dollars in damages… many people lost their batteries charger…

You should use it, at least once a week for a few minutes (to keep the membrane wet).
If you are in a marina, you can “rinse” it. There is a valve before the filter that you can move.
Now, instead of sea water it receive fresh water from your tank.
BUT, you can not use water with chlorine, otherwise will destroy the membrane.
Personally I have install a charbon filter to remove the chlorine when I flush it.

Hope that helps, sincerely, Alexandre

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] fresh water lines

Bill & Judy Rouse <yahoogroups@...>

John,

I cannot be much help because I have never done any water line plumbing on an Amel. On SM 387, there is a pair of copper water lines that are behind the back cushion on the dining table seating. If you are facing the dining table, remove the back cushion on the right side...you should see the lines that go to the shower control. Do you have a freezer under that seat cushion? Or, is it an open compartment?

On SM 387, the seats and backs are secured by Velcro and the seat plywood panel under the cushion and over the A/C is removable.

The water is going to migrate to all of the floor compartments in the saloon area and because your boat has watertight bulkheads, you are going to have to open all of these compartments between the engine room bulkhead and the bulkhead on the aft side of the forward head. You will need a pump to pump out the water and probably a wet/vac to complete the drying out.

I wish I could help you more, but that exhausted what I can tell you.

Best,

Bill

Last winter was the first time for me leaving the boat on the hard.  Evidently the fresh water line running between the pressure pump and the forward head has bursts or has a broken fitting. I see water flowing from under the forward, port corner of the salon settee toward the AC unit!  It also seems that I must access this cavity by removing the back of the settee or the seat. Does any know which would be the best or easiest approach to access the water lines in this area?

Kent,

Do you have part numbers for all the shaft seals that are used on the boat.

Are they  made by the same manufacturer? It it is so then some parts are similar.

Carolina Seals offered me a seal for C-drive prop shaft for $55.00 each. I believe that this is a ripoff. How much did you pay for those seals?

Vladimir, Are you talking about your Passport or your new Amel? Assuming its your Amel, it would probably have a 160 lt. w/maker and this one is only a 60lt. , thus the parts would not be compatible. If I am mistaken, and you can use it , let me know. We enjoyed your visit ,drop a hook next time you are passing by, next time it will be in your Amel. We may see you guys at the show.

Hi Pat,
Watermaker is not operational on my boat. I can come and take your watermaker for parts.
Thanks again for your and Diane hospitality. It was a pleasure to see you.

I am looking for someone that does not want it because its free , but needs it and can use it. It was never used by me as I was in fresh water , but I have no reason to believe it would not be in good condition, the only thing  that it needs is a new glass vial that measures water flow, it broke from freezing . It is a 60L 220V., includes the panel showing about 240 hrs., membranes ( would need replacing) large Lesson motor connected via fan belt to high pressure pump , hoses , filter , complete system. I would be willing to ship it (at your cost, very heavy so costly)  anywhere, USA. or could be picked up on the Sassafras River 40 miles north of Annapolis or few miles from the C&D canal for those heading south from New England.

Subject: Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Desalator D60

Hello!I have
Dessalator D60 aboard, unfortunately the only manual I have
is in French, so do not know exactly how to run or service
the water maker, I have tried to search the forum but not
find the manual, would appreciate very much if someone

Do you have pump 132-0459 old# 132-0358 and rebuild kit 0541-1520/old#
0132-0380?

You might want to consider this because the normal price is over $400 for
that pump:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sherwood-Pump-G702-PUMP-ONAN-132-0358-/181829717172?hash=item2a55e54cb4&vxp=mtr

I have the above pump and a spare pump. I also have the rebuild kit, but
have never rebuilt the pump. I believe the kit includes a bearing, a
mechanical seal and a few other pieces.
I think that there is a circlip[image: Inline image 2] that has to be
removed to take things apart.

Hope that helps, sincerely, Alexandre

fresh water lines

jsrogers@...

Onan 6.5 kilowatt raw water pump rebuild

william_maffei@...

Anyone have the rebuild instructions for a Onan 6.5 model MDKD? I have ordered the rebuild kit and there is no re-assembly instructions to go along with it. The old parts were in such bad shape that it is hard to tell the order that they came out in to replace with the new parts. The schematic that I have on hand is not clear and none of the parts look familiar. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I planned to use it on my Amel. I did not know that the water makers are of the different capacity.

Hope that helps, sincerely, Alexandre

the water maker, I have tried to search the forum but not

Hello!I have
Dessalator D60 aboard, unfortunately the only manual I have
is in French, so do not know exactly how to run or service
the water maker, I have tried to search the forum but not
find the manual, would appreciate very much if someone
upload or mail the manual to me sykerpa at gmail dot

Alexandre, I'll be in T&C in Jan, too.  We'll hoist a beer/wine/rum and get to know each other in person.  I'll be sailing from N Florida after Christmas.
Looking forward to meeting you!

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Free watermaker

Patrick McAneny

Vladimir, Are you talking about your Passport or your new Amel? Assuming its your Amel, it would probably have a 160 lt. w/maker and this one is only a 60lt. , thus the parts would not be compatible. If I am mistaken, and you can use it , let me know. We enjoyed your visit ,drop a hook next time you are passing by, next time it will be in your Amel. We may see you guys at the show.
Good Luck,
Pat & Diane,

Hi Pat,
Watermaker is not operational on my boat. I can come and take your watermaker for parts.
Thanks again for your and Diane hospitality. It was a pleasure to see you.

Hello!I have
Dessalator D60 aboard, unfortunately the only manual I have
is in French, so do not know exactly how to run or service
the water maker, I have tried to search the forum but not
find the manual, would appreciate very much if someone
