One of the anode suppliers noted there was a stainless steel nut embedded in one of the halves.  That would be a bit tougher drilling.  Do you recall what size of drill bit was used?

I am also wondering how the electrical connection is made.  Is it through the stainless bolt and the metal sleeve in the rudder?  Or is it contact between the end of the sleeve to the anode?  Both of these seem less than sure things and would warrant a bit of 1000 grit wet dry paper to improve the electrical conductivity.

I just purchased some Camp R7 anodes online. I was told by the diver who changed the zincs last, and by the electrician who specializes in hull potential problems that Camp zincs are much better than the Martyr zincs I was using. I'm not sure if I'll have to drill out the hole, but that's easy as others have said.  Since there was no evidence of a current leak causing my zincs to erode in 2 months, I am trying the higher quality zincs and using a 7" zinc rather than the 5" in an effort to have them last longer.

I Use R5 zincs . I use a bench grinder to make a flat on the top for a washer and  drill a hole for a 10 mm bolt.
Has been working fine for 13 years.

We attempted to get some new knobs directly from the company in Germany. They responded promptly by email in English, but stated our model of heater was no longer supported. When you look online, they seem to have a model of a similar shape and size. I'd send them an email, and see if they can provide a manual in English.

Vladimir, with your 75 H.P. engine, if you have a Max-Prop, that speed and RPM are about right, well within the range. If you have an Auto-Prop, the RPM are about 600 slower and that speed is a bit slower than normal by about ½ a knot. All things considered, nothing for concern and within normal ‘range’.

However, keep this in mind. In 35 years of selling used Amel’s by the hundreds, I have NEVER seen a tachometer on an Amel , or any other boat for that matter, after being tested with a certified pulse/stroboscopic tachometer, where the tachometer on the boat was less than 100 RPM too fast or too slow, and many times more than 100 RPM, sometimes a lot more. Tachometers are notoriously inaccurate, especially modern ones which take their information from an electrical pulse from the alternator or other source rather than an engine to tachometer rotating cable. If you are using accurate tide charts and GPS and something does not add up, have your tachometer tested, it’s inexpensive and easy to do so. It is often the culprit.

I use original Autoprop. Previous owner told me that he never ran the boat at more than 2,000 RPM. I am very far from home (Annapolis MD) and I try to be very conservative.  I will run at full throttle later on closer to home.

I took the liberty to change the subject line....

An other possibility is in Aghios Nikolaos on northeast coast of Crete. It is a night sail from Rohdes. 
A very nice marina where you can choose to have your boat in water or on land. Travel lift to take you out of the water.
The Marina is in the center of the town, and you have about 1 hour transfer to the airport in Heraklion.
If you choose to spend the winter onboard your boat, there is a nice community during the winters, nice walks are arranged every week. Also you have a lot to explore on Crete.

We have been there for two winters and just loved it.

In February or so I will move the boat to the boatyard Nereus (www.nereusboatyard.com mail nereus@...), they have a huge new travellift, even if the yard is extremely crowded, you have to book well in advance. Marina personnel offered to move the boat on my behalf.
In noonsite.com you will find on the new Rhodes Marina similar considerations

I assumed that's what most would do and I assume it's easy enough to accomplish. 

One of the anode suppliers noted there was a stainless steel nut embedded in one of the halves.  That would be a bit tougher drilling.  Do you recall what size of drill bit was used?

I am also wondering how the electrical connection is made.  Is it through the stainless bolt and the metal sleeve in the rudder?  Or is it contact between the end of the sleeve to the anode?  Both of these seem less than sure things and would warrant a bit of 1000 grit wet dry paper to improve the electrical conductivity.

Although not (yet) an owner, I had a brief side discussion also with Bill from BeBe last year about the structure and so on of the most-valuable information on this group.

I elective that it would be useful to group info by Model / Hull number, with perhaps a generic top-level "00" directory, relating to spares/parts, and any other info of a generic nature of interest to all parties.

And then, for and withing the directory for each model/type, a directory structure expanding on Bill's as proposed, something like:

Granted, an extensive listing, but then so too are the systems that come as 'Standard'.  (I placed some sub-headings in there too, but for only some top-level headings.)  Some headings could be 'nested' - for example, engine, gear-box, C-drive, shaft, prop, cold all be collapsed under "Propulsion" - but each of these topics is probably big enough to get a headline of it's own, so elevated to a higher level for better visibility and navigation of the various topics).

These headings could provide the basis for a directory structure.

I would thing that, within each directory/folder,  there may be benefit of have sub-directories for each of:
- Description & Specifications
- Operation & Checklists
- Faults & Troubleshooting
- Service Schedule
- Maintenance Procedures
- Parts, Tools & Spares

I would expect also that - if there is not already one existing - it may be useful to compile a master maintenance schedule, based on engine/genset hours, and time (such as 3/6/9/12/24/36 months).

Just my two pence worth, as I've tried to file information systematically as I've been coming to grips with both the systems complexity and the wealth of information available from different sources.

Hope this offering provides some benefit to the greater community.
