Re: [Amel Keel

Hi Fellow AMEL owners,

The keel on all Super Maramus is cast iron, not steel (big difference) and the keel is not
encased/encapsulated in fiberglass. It is faired in epoxy, primed, and painted with
anti-fouling.

There is a very definitive procedure for repairing or replacing the epoxy coating that I
would be pleased to elaborate on if anyone has an interest.

All the best,

HI, Hey, did the water come from the keel or from the
rudder skeg. The rudder is hollow and will drain. I
don't know of any plugs in the Keel itself. The keep
should be cast steel incased in fiberglass.

Hi - No, we didn't fit a new one. the water-cooled tranny would have required cutting the
pulley down 2 inches, and we didn't think te reduced size would produce enough output to
make it worthwhile.

Hi Brad,
Don't even think about getting a new one from France. Just make one
with a strip of coloured perspex or of aluminium. If you do not have the
bits of the original just let me know and I will send you the
measurements. If you need to mark perspex before drilling use a
chinagraph or grease pencil. It would, of course be much easier to
file notches in the edge than drill. If you can cope with higher maths
you could convert the litres into US gallons and mark the other edge!!

Good luck, Anne and John SM 319

I may be interested. Was the alternator working prior to removal? What is the model, output etc as listed on the alternator label. How much do you want for it? Where are you located?

We have an Onan that has gotten sick and appears to need a new Kubota diesel. It's got huge
back pressure into the intake manifold. We've replaced the injectors only to have them foul
within a few hours. Does anyone have any contacts leads on getting a new or rebuilt Kubota?
I have the Cummins part number for a new engine but the cost is out of sight.

Re: Microwave replacement

Judy Rouse

Diane,

we have a Ariston MW212K In our SM2 #387. Yesterday it quit
working...sort of. The light and fan would come on, but it did not
heat with the microwave. I decided, what the hell, let's see if we
can fix it. I removed the cover with some effort as the manufacturer
has "not to tamper" screws securing the cover. Well, small vice grip
pliers allowed me to "tamper" with them and unscrew them.

I looked for a fuse, found one and it checked OK. So I checked the
door and safety micro switches and they checked OK. Then I noticed
that most of the Female Quick Connects were slightly loose, so I
crimped them slightly to tighten their connection. Guess what, it
worked! I suspect the marine environment caused a problem at the
weakest point in the wiring of the Microwave - the Quick Connects.

Best,

Bill Rouse with Judy Rouse
