Santorin motoring light?
hrkaptajn <museum@...>
I can't seem to find the switch to the motoring lantern on my 1993
Santorin. And I can't see the lantern on the front mast... Does the Santorin have a motoring light/lantern (white) at all, where is it placed and how do I switch it on? Help greatly appreciated! Best Regards Lars, Denmark Santorin #79

Hello Craig And Cathrine.
No particular reason for that specific date. I am really after an older boat and would consider slightly younger boats, but do not want to waste time on the plethora of not so second hand boats that are on the market , essentially at not so second hand prices, often with not so serious sellers. --- In amelyachtowners@yahoogroups.com, "Craig & Katherine" <sangaris@...> wrote:

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Darn Batteries-Link 10
Richard Piller <richard03801@...>
Be aware that when you use an alternator of that power
you may well need to use 2 belts to drive it. If you stay with a single belt it is best to be sure it is an "XL" belt. Also use a bracket that has a positive method (some sort of jack screw/turn buckle) of holding belt tension. OH, yes, carry lots of spare single belts. roger_h_banks <roger.banks@...>
Mea culpa. In this thread, I referred to Trojan T105s rated as 105 amp hours @ 6 volts.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
They are in fact 225Ah @ 6v, giving a capacity over 4 batteries, series & parallel, of 450Ah @ 12v, a far better setup for cruising. My batteries were obviously half dead when I installed the Xantrex Link 20, set to what I thought was the capacity. These compensating errors made all seem reasonable .... until the batteries finally gave up the ghost. None of this changes the import of the earlier discussion. Having had a true expert on board to review my future battery options and exhausting many possibilities and types, we ended up with, yes, Trojan T105's. The output of the, presumably original, house alternator does not seem to be anywhere near adequate, so I'm about to embark on installing an Amp Tech 140A @ 12 volts, with an Ample Power SARv3 regulator. Santorin Bow Thruster
Battaglini Ornella Barbara <ornella.battaglini@...>
Hello,
We are owners of Santorin hull 122 that needs bow thruster maintenance. We read Gary Silver's note about Bow Thruster Service on SM and we saw his pictures but our bow thruster seems a little different: in fact looking at the interior of the boat, under the foam seal, we don't see the two screws near shaft lip seal We've already spare parts (by Amel SAV). We will appreciate if a Santorin owner could give us informations, particulary: 1) procedure and tools to removie the shaft lip seal 2) What can we use as "contact cement" to secure internal and external foam seals 3) procedure and tools to remove prop lip seal 4) How much oil needs to replace in shaft housing (SAE 90 tupe) Thanks for clarifying this issue. Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Re: Looking to purchase Amel Super Maramu
David Elliott <elliottyachts@...>
Dear Ron,
I note with great interest your email below regarding your 1996 SM and voyage through Indonesia. I'm an Australian located in Singapore with wife and two young kids and have been eyeing of SM for some time after seeing my first last November anchored in Phi Phi Islands (may have been yours as this one was registered in Southport). I currently have my eye on a 1996 SM located in Phuket and have been procrastinating over it for the past 4-5mths. The Yacht has been sailed by the original owner from France over the past 10 years and appears to be in very good shape, obviously well used though. I was wondering if you could offer some advice on key things to watch out for, and areas to pay particular attention. How did the decks and hull come up after repainting polish, must say I can't quite get my head around Faux. What do they sail like, I have always sailed sloops so I can imagine there is a huge difference. One of the big downsides to purchasing this in SEA is paying all the Aust taxes, bit I suppose you have to pay that in OZ as well. Should we go ahead with the purchase our intentions are to sail it home (slowly) to Australia in 2008 after cruising SE Asia, Vietnam, KK etc. This would be with our daughter 8 and son 6. Any advice on the route you are talking would also be a great help. We were considering trying to sail back with some of the boats from 2008 Rally. Would greatly appreciate any advice or thoughts on the above, who knows I may see you in next years Rally. Have a safe to Darwin. Thank you Richard.
As you see , I have asked for interest in a sale in Sopac or Australia. I must assume then, that you are prepared to deliver this yacht to Australia or deduct this shipping from the purchase price if delivered in MD. If I this is a reasonable assumption, based on your response, feel free to contact me. Hi Joel:
I hope all is well with you and yours. We just finished hauling Liahona in Jolly Harbor Antigua for the hurricane season. I too would like to know the "definitive procedure" for priming on the keel. Also, I just had Laurant replace the starboard windshield due to crazing, do you have any thoughts on prevention? Thanks, Gary Silver
