Hi mike. I drilled mine out and put a bolt through. I now have a nut top and bottom
I  lost a lot of sweat and blunted several drills in the process. If you can get a cobalt drill they cut stainless much better than the standard. I didn't have one, as always I was fixing a boat in an exotic location.

I can envision finding a coupling that could be used but would require an enlargement of the bolt hole in the windlass base thereby weakening it. The stud could be cut off and the windlass moved slightly with new holes for all bolts.

 

Thoughts?

Hi pat. I battled the bilge pump forever. The key is the foot valve. If you can stop that leaking so the pipe stays full you should have no more trouble. Also ensure there are no leeks in the suction pipe.

Mike,

There are two cables running from the single arm Morse Throttle/Shifter. Each are independently adjustable in the engine room, near their termination points.

It sounds to me as though the shifter cable is loose in the engine room. That is what I would check first. With the engine OFF have someone move the Morse Throttle/Shifter forward then backward while you inspect the cables in the engine room.

I purchased one of the push button switches from the eBay link below. Unfortunately, the threads on the switch are too short to fit the windlass. Otherwise the switch looks the same but is plastic verses the brass Amel original unit. If you just need the rubber cap, this is a good option. It is a perfect fit.

 

I purchased a couple of switches from Steve Leeds (thank you Joe)

Yesterday the transmission did not engage without manually pushing the transmission shift lever. Is there a point of adjustment in the Morse cable system for this? It is not cheap and the previous owner probably picked Jabsco over paying about 600++ Euros for the "Marina Pump." However, the  Reya/AMFA Marina Pump is far superior.

When most any lift pump stops working, it is because of an air leak that causes loss of prime and loss of vacuum while pumping. The most common missed item is a hardening of the hose which causes air leaking at the pump side and liquid leaking at the lift side...be sure to have double clamps and silicone grease in the junction. But, air leaks can also happen internally with the flapper valves, diaphragm and pump case.

I have two of these  Reya/AMFA Marina Pumps...one installed and one ready replacement. Possibly some other owner has a  Reya/AMFA Marina Pump that they will sell to you.

Of course, there is always Jabsco.

Shaft alternators for SM are currently no more available at Amel. It's also quite complex to setup from other sources.
May I suggest a great and modern solution I've installed on our SM2K. I'm very happy and impressed by the performance.
[Note] We owned fro 15 years an Amel Mango with an alternator shaft, it's a good solution but it's not so efficient in power generation and it's quite noisy

The system we've installed is Watt & Sea Cruising 600 Watts 970 mm : Cruising hydro generator

  The inox support, setup and wiring was made in La Rochelle by Fred.

I really hate to take the negative side of this issue. I do not know if any of the following 6 items could be an issue with high water pressure, but I would consider them:
  1. Solenoid ON/OFF valve for the dishwasher pressure limit?
  2. Solenoid ON/OFF valve for the clothes washer pressure limit?
  3. High pressure relief valve on the water heater and the correlation with available expansion with its expansion tank.
  4. Water Maker pre-filters and membranes pressure limit for flushing. High pressure could possibly damage filters and membranes
  5. Fiber washers on many screw-on fittings may need to be substituted with silicone.
  6. Accumulator pressure settings should be 10-15% less than pump cut-off pressure. There should be 2 tanks...one for Hot and one for cold...but since an anchor wash pump was installed, who knows what you have.
I would try to find a better replacement than a Jabsco anchor wash pump that was installed by the previous owner. Something that will get the cut-off pressure down to about 2 bar. In Aldo's defense, I have seen postings in this group recommending such replacements. And, lastly, if you wind up buying a 24VDC Jabsco fresh water pump, consider buying 2 of them so that when the first fails, you'll have a ready replacement.

Does any owner have a A.M.F.A. 66B non-working pump that David can rebuild?

Also, David, check with Aldo on what he did with the Amel-installed pump. I am 99.9% sure that it can be repaired.

You would need to run a diagnostic mode. I googled it for you. Bosch states that you need to do the following:

Turn the washer knob to the 'off' or reset position 12 o'clock.
2. Turn the knob to the 6 o'clock position.
3. Press and hold the spin button.
4. While holding it, turn the knob to the 7 o'clock position.
5. Continue holding the spin button for about 5 seconds.
6. Release the button.
7. Turn the knob to off.

Please also google yourself to verify the procedure mentioned above.

Set relief value at 40-45 psi, pressure switch at 30-35 psi OFF and below 10-15 psi ON.

Set relief value at 40-45 psi, pressure switch at 30-35 psi OFF and below 10-15 psi ON.
This way you will be well protected.
