Hi Bill,
I emailed Flight Systems, asking if they had our board.  Response was no....emailed them back to suggest that many Amel owners had the 300-5521.and they should consider it.  No response to date.

Re: 2002 SM2K for sale, EU-VAT paid, 215.000 EUR

Hi Bill, yes it is my SM2K.
We are selling due to a private situation in the family.
Our AMEL is a great vessel, for the price. We have replaced (not yet installed - to be delivered next month) all interior upholstery (including the foam), for bright cream alcantara.
Mechanically she is ready to go "Mediterranean or Caribbean sailing", and with some additional maintenance she would be ready for a circumnavigation. She just sailed on her own keel back from Martinique in 2015.
The low price reflects that she has "above average" engine hours 5150 (compression is good, no smoking, new turbo and injectors last year). I believe another 5000 hours lifespan is be possible, with normal care and periodic maintenance, impeller, filters, oil changes etc. She has spent a lot of hours running with the diesel engine, during the 4x Atlantic crossings she has seen, which I hear is a kind and good life for a diesel. But it sure adds up the hours :)
Also the rigging is 14 years old, and even if she did not put many miles on the canvas, I would expect to replace the forestay as a precaution, and possibly replace the full rigging if going for a full circumnavigation.
The boat has been lived aboard by 2 people for 6 months at a time, in the Caribbean, since she was new, hence I found the need to replace all upholstery, as it was quite worn when we got her.
With all new upholstery, I think the interior is very nice and well maintained, varnish, woodwork etc is looking great.
If contacting me directly, there is a saving of 5.000 EUR on the brokers fee.
I am happy to answer all questions, and also I invite anyone interested to come see her here in Denmark - she is located 40 minutes from Copenhagen International Airport.
For a new owner, I would be happy to help sail the boat to a destination abroad.
I hope not to have offended the group, by posting the link to DeValk on this forum. If so, please accept my apologies.
25 knots and sunshine to all current and future AMEL owners.
Niels

Having knowledge of the isolated ground on my Yanmar after completely rewiring the engine, I decided the problem was with the isolated ground and the PCB board was not properly connected to the dc negative  from the battery and getting confused as to what to do.

I started at the battery cable and cleaned all of the connections and tested the generator  as I cleaned and used corrosion x and tightened the connection..

Finally there was only one connection- the braided ground strap that went to the PCB board.

I removed the screw holding it on to the board, cleaned paint off of the board where the ground strap connects to the board and noticed that the screw which held the strap in place was slightly corroded. I cleaned it up added corrosion x and PROBLEM SOLVED.

Thanks, Danny, from Shelter Bay Marina on the Caribbean side of the Panama Canal.

I got back to the boat in Curaçao a few weeks ago.  After working on my boat list and waiting for Hurricane Matthew to clear, I went to Aruba for a few days and then to the San Blas islands, Panama.  The immigration office on Isla Porvenir has closed, so sailed to Portobelo, then had to go to Colon to get cruising permit and Marinero Visa.  The Panama immigration service is in a messy transition period now as they try to consolidate services, to eventually make it easier for cruisers.  For now you should just check in at Colon on the Caribbean side.  I'm not sure about the Pacific side.

I'll spend the next two months in Kuna Yala and Bocas Del Toro, then fly home for Christmas.

My eye problem never did get better.  I gave up after 5 surgeries and 2 months of lying on my back or face.  It is slowly going totally black, but that means the glare, double vision, and distortion is almost gone now.  I'm not needing the patch except in bright sunlight now, but might wear it on occasion when I think it might be to my advantage ;-)>

All the best.

Steady as she goes.

I looked in the box of the switches and, I think, that the problem is right there.
I enclose 5 photos to make it clear what type of control box is : The boat is Santorin 122 year 1995.
I run some tests: at the end of the lifting or lowering movement of the BT a sound signals the end of the operation. Does it mean that the switches work correctly?
Could it be simply a problem of incorrect positioning of the locks on the spindle that triggs the switches? (photo BT5)??
For now I turn it off manually, but I need to find asap a solution.
Thanks to all.

Re: Instal AC / Genset on Santorin

Craig & Katherine Briggs

Hello Trevor,
On our Santorin we have a 6kw Northern Lights generator (we run it at 110v or you can run it at 4.8kw @ 220v). We also have a 110v, 18,000 Btu A/C.  The Genset is just to port of the main engine - still lots of access room.  The A/C compressor is on a shelf to the port side of the engine room that I suspended from the bottom of the lazarette locker. It is a split system with a 12K BTU condenser/fan unit in the dinette seat locker, ducted to the main salon bulkhead, the head and the forward cabin, plus a 6K BTU unit on the shelf over the fuel tank that is ducted into the aft cabin. All have been working without problems for 12 years now (7000 hours on the genset). Also run a 20 gph water maker at 110v with high pressure pump in engine room and controls / membrane on the shelf over the fuel tank. And we have a 110v refrigerator with holding plates - split system with refrigeration under galley counter where original refrig and dry storage area was and freezer under salon dining table where original wine storage used to be. While cruising full time it takes about 45 minutes of generator running each morning and evening to freeze the holding plates, charge batteries and make water. This summer we ran the generator all night at anchor a few nights for A/C as it was so bloody hot in the US and we're too cheap to pay for a marina.
Cheers,
Craig Briggs, SN#68 Sangaris

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] PCB board for an MDKAV onan generator

Bill & Judy Rouse <yahoogroups@...>

Eric,

Onan uses at least 10 different PCB boards and you need to look for the part number you need. BeBe #387 has Onan PCB board 300-5521. Your PCB may be different than mine.

I checked ebay and there are some Onan PCB boards priced from $150 - $300, but none listed as a replacement for 300-5521.

Are you still in Cartagena? There was a German electronics guy there that made board level repair on anything except PCs. If you can find the boat guy Alberto there, he can bring you to the German. He repaired a board in my Sat Phone...amazing!

I also noticed on Ebay that some of the Onan PCBs were labeled as "after market."

One of the after market manufacturers is http://www.dinosaurelectronics.com/ They apparently make about 12 different Onan PCBs, but do not list the 300-5521. I would contact them.

Another after market Onan PCB maker to contact is Flight Systems. They do not list the 300-5521, but maybe one of these is interchangeable with your PCB: https://www.flightsystems.com/standby-generator-ats-controls/onan-regulators-and-controls.html
