Warren I will when I have found or made one. Where is your boat? I have been sailing Sea Hobo for about 9 months in the Solent and have not seen another Amel! I would like to see if I have put her together nicely. Mark

Thinking about it the tiller is curved but doesn’t come passed the mizzen mast

Thank you Warren, I will empty the cockpit lazarette this weekend. I find new things all the time. Is the tiller curved or just off centre? Mark

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Re: Companionway Wash Boards
Duane. On Aletes, as the companionway door is raised there is a piece of plywood at the bottom on the hidden (back) side of the door that forms a stop to prevent the door from pulling out altogether. It is held in place by 4 or 5 screws visible on the interior side bottom of the door when the door is fully up. Removing those screws allows removing the stop and thereby allowing the door to be raised higher than the threshold. At that point you have access to the screw that hold the weatherseal in place. Simply remove the old weatherseal and install the new. Hope that was clear. Let me know if you need more details.

Re: Hurricane Prep
Duane Siegfri
Thanks for the input everyone. I'll try to post a photo of it in the next few days.
We lucked out and had only 40kt winds with 50kt gusts here. The surge was about 5 feet, and we still had several feet of piling left for the floating docks. If we had gotten the 10 feet of surge (the predicted max surge when Irma was still well offshore and expected to impact the east coast) the docks would have floated off the pilings. Not an image I want to contemplate, but no marina is designed for a hurricane. I noticed that the Palm Harbor Marina in West Palm Beach had no boats in it during the hurricane (as seen on the news). We were there two years ago (immediately after we bought the boat) and they required you to agree to remove your boat in the event of a named storm (it was in the lease fine print). I couldn't believe they required that, but that's Florida... Duane Wanderer, SM#47

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Aft A/C Clima Blower Motor
Rick Grimes
Actually Hanspeter, your English was quite good. You were very articulate in your advice to Paul. The problem is that it was not helpful advice and your response was not 'the only right answer'. Further, people are discussing Alex's difficulties under the heading "Alex aboard Nikimat" not under the heading "Aft AC Clima Blower Motor" There is no rule that says one can't ask a question on the forum until they have read all the manuals and consulted with technicians or have acquired as much knowledge and experience as you apparently have. That said, as for me, I will continue to ask my naive and stupid questions about my "little problems" when I have them, help anyone I can with constructive advice, and ignore crude responses such as the one you gave to Paul. I can't help Paul on his issue so I'm not offering advice. I am waiting to see if someone else might do so because I might learn something--which is what this forum is all about.

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Re: Companionway Wash Boards
Vladimir,
We found a pretty good replacement for the weather seal on the sliding companionway hatch on the SM2000. Belt Weatherstrip/Window Scraper Seal from Rockauto.com part no. 1371-4X2. 2 48" pcs cost $29. Only need 23.5" or 60cm so enough material to do 4 times. Assuming the 2 pictures come through, this Weatherstrip actually finishes about 1/4" above the wood sill, but is still lower than the hatch itself when fully lowered, so is protected from foot traffic. The upper portion on both ends was trimmed back about 1/8" to improve water drainage. You will understand the need for this if you buy this product.
I had posted this with pictures on Sep 2, 2017 post 35329 with pictures in case the pics attached don’t come through.

Re: Alex aboard Nikimat
Derick Gates
Hi All,
I was able to talk with the Swiss Consulate in San Francisco, where I am currently, and relate to them about Alexandre and his desperate situation in Sint Maarten. They informed me that the Swiss Consulate in charge of this situation is in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. They had forwarded my email concerning Alexandre both to Berne (Switzerland) and the Atlanta Swiss Consulate, so both entities are now aware of his location and contact information. They also said that the Swiss government was not mounting any relief efforts to Sint Maarten, and he should seek aide from and cooperate with local authorities. I have passed on to Alexandre the contact information of the Swiss Consulate in Atlanta, should that be ultimately useful to him.
