Hello,

One of the sheaves of my main sheet traveler car has broken. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement?

Thank you very much,
Peter

The B&G Hydra 2000 depth works at 170kHz

Alan,

The P79 works at both 50 and 200 kHz, so I am guessing the Hydra runs at 83kHz?  Or is it something unique and proprietary?

Vladimir,

I have used that type of transducer and several other Amel owners have as well.  They are made by Airmar, and are known in their catalog as a "P79".
The only difference between the various brand labels for transducers like this is the connector on the end of the cable.

They work very well on a solid fiberglass hull boat like an Amel.  On a cored hull--not so much.

RE P79

Note that this sensor DOES NOT WORK WITH B&G HYDRA, it is the wrong frequency.

I enlarged the existing depth sensor hole to install the CS4500, and installed a P79 in-the-hull depth transducer, and all is happy.

I have not decided yet if I will take out the sonic sensor at the next haul out.

Hi Kent,

I installed a DST800 about 3 years ago on Aloha for my Ray Marine instruments. Had to remove the transducer from a dead forward looking sonar unit, enlarge the hole, and install the DST800. Only one persons experience, but it's still going strong 7000nm later. It seemed like a better option at the time than an extra hole for a paddle wheel. My very old B&G depth transducer recently failed, and I bought the only available replacement through Myles Electronics in FL for way too much money. Have not installed it yet, but hoping to get my 2nd depth source on line again.

On Aletes, as the companionway door is raised there is a piece of plywood at the bottom on the hidden (back) side of the door that forms a stop to prevent the door from pulling out altogether. It is held in place by 4 or 5 screws visible on the interior side bottom of the door when the door is fully up. Removing those screws allows removing the stop and thereby allowing the door to be raised higher than the threshold. At that point you have access to the screw that hold the weatherseal in place. Simply remove the old weatherseal and install the new.

Hope that was clear. Let me know if you need more details.

The government doesn’t sell fuel to civilians.
when we run out of diesel for the generator: no internet, no fridge, no stove, no water for the toilet nor shower and computers, phone, etc. will run out of batteries.
I really don’t see a way out of this.
10.00 they are having difficulties to start the generator.
The Hotel internet is down and I can’t access the one next door.
I just cry.
During the 2 hours the generator was running, all I did was trying to get Wifi.
Then, to make the thing worst, the Hotel which originally agree on $1500 plus water and electricity, now wants $2250 because they can not meter the electricity nor water I use?!?
We argue for one hour, I tell them I am taking back my diesel and selling it to the higher offer.
Finally we settle for $1600 all together, but I lost trust in them.
I no longer feel safe here, more and more I want to leave, but I also don’t want to loose all I remove from the boat.
18.30 the generator starts, but no internet anywhere.
20.00 finally an internet connection.
